December corn futures followed a similar path. Wheat futures traded very tight ranges around unchanged overnight. The U.S. government shutdown is nearly one week old at this point, with the only glimmer of hope it may end relatively soon being a comment by President Trump on Monday that he was open to negotiating with Democrats over health care subsidies to bring an end to the funding stalemate. However, he later backtracked, saying Democrats must pass a stopgap spending measure to re-open the government first – a stance GOP leaders have repeated over the past six days. Democratic leaders said there were no talks with Trump underway. So… the shutdown continues and markets are left without key government data, instead relying on private figures and forecast for direction.
